“When Margarita Hernandez heard from relatives that her 90-year-old father in Mexico was struck by a car, she prayed to the Virgin of Guadalupe for a miracle. Her father, whom she had not seen in some time, healed remarkably, and Hernandez was convinced that her prayers were answered.

What has not healed, she said, has been the heartbreak she and other Middletown Latinos feel after their priest rejected their wish to thank the Holy Mother in a special way this year. The group claims that the Rev. Rafael Laiton of St. Josephs Parish denied, at the last minute, their request to celebrate the Festival of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 12, as is customary in most Latino countries.”

Here is a quote from the comment’s section “I say that the mexicans should be happy to be here at all… Maybe the Middletown PD should check green cards at the door. Send them all home!!!!!”
