Mexican candy store offers sweet memories of childhood – Dulcelandia – Chicago
Tagged: border, Chicago, IllinoisPosted on: December 21st, 2006“Walk into Dulcelandia and the towers of multicolored lollipops, mounds of brightly wrapped caramels and boxes of chocolates look like those in any other bulk candy store.
The huge pinatas, Spanish music, Mayan murals and bins of candies with names like “Quebramuelas,” “Almohaditas de Gelatin” and “Chocolates Carlos V” quickly give it away.
Dulcelandia, Spanish for “Candy Land,” is the place to find the sugar-coated coconut “Toothbreakers,” pillow-shaped gummies and the rich chocolates fit for a king as well as other sweet and savory treats from south of the border.”
