“When high school student Mariana Rodriguez found herself developing legislation in the House chamber of the Iowa State Capitol, she knew she was truly in her element.

“I really like to speak, and I like to fight injustice,” said Rodriguez, who is a freshman at East High School in Des Moines. “I like to give my opinion.””
