“Richard J. Garcia, currently auxiliary bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento, has been appointed as the new bishop of Monterey, church officials announced Tuesday.

Garcia, 59, will replace Bishop Sylvester Ryan and is scheduled to be installed on Jan. 30 in a mass to be held at the Monterey Conference Center.”
