Knowledge is Power!
“Nearly everyone agrees that our current immigration system is badly broken and in need of reform. Now that the elections are over and the campaign ads are only available on YouTube, it is apparent that Congress did the country a huge disservice last year. Americans wanted real reform, but what we got was a symbolic fence, a lot of hot air and no policy.
The message from the electorate was very clear ”” it is time for Congress to stop campaigning and to start governing; the American people want solutions, not demagoguery. Immigration was not the winning issue restrictionists hoped it would be. Voters rejected extremist candidates who ran on anti-immigrant platforms, even in states where the debate is most fierce. Polling data also demonstrate that Americans value the rule of law and believe that the broken immigration system is a problem, but deporting 12 million people is irrational and impractical, and Band-aid solutions along the border are inadequate.”
