Cisneros Groups Venevision Internationals Film Channel “VeneMovies’ Expands to Puerto Rico

“”VeneMovies”, the Cisneros Group of Companies Venevision Internationals pay TV Spanish-language, 24-hour movie channel launched in the US market in September, extended its presence this month to Puerto Rico as part of the line up of “OneLink Communications” which provides the signal to most subscribers on the island.

This adds an additional 56,000 “VeneMovies” digital subscribers to those already reached through Comcast in the continental U.S.

“VeneMovies” is a channel conceived as part of the basic cable package with a “premium” on-screen presence dedicated to showing films originally produced in Spanish from all Hispanic countries. The latest movies from the new generation of actors and directors from Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Venezuela, among other countries, are now made available to viewers in their own language.

In addition, the executives of the company are in negotiation to expand the signal to other cable and satellite systems. VeneMovies is the ideal complement of the present offering of classic films that are already available on Pay TV. This new channel gives access to an increasing number of high-quality Spanish language productions, along the lines of those that have achieved success in the international market and placed new stars in the industry worldwide. The channel also presents coverage of the events of the film industry in Spanish in the United States including film festivals and premieres. “
