Mexican pilgrimage a Fremont tradition
Tagged: California, San JosePosted on: December 15th, 2006“A 26-year tradition enters another season Saturday evening, when dozens of carolers will meet in Fremont to partake of a Mexican tradition called “Las Posadas, re-enacting Mary and Josephs journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
The nine-day ceremony wont be ultra-religious — there wont be any prayers — but it will include Christmas carols, food and entertainment from Saturday to Dec. 24 beginning each night at 6 p.m. on the porch of the Mission San Jose church at 43300 Mission Blvd.
From there, participants walk to various businesses, the Dominican Sisters convent, a coffee shop, cheese store, museum and art gallery to celebrate.”
