“For Lorenzo and Mireya Lopez and their three children, a nightmare that turned their lives upside down last week ended Thursday when Mireya was released from jail and the immediate threat of deportation to Mexico.
She was allowed to return to her Cudahy home where she was greeted by a shower of hugs and kisses, the cooing of her baby daughter, red roses, balloons and a newly decorated Christmas tree.
And although she still faces possible deportation, she can be with her family now and will be allowed to make her case for staying here before an immigration judge, said her attorney, Erich C. Straub.”
