“Despite the cold, Danny was one of more than 1,200 people who came from Red Springs, St. Pauls and Lumberton to celebrate the Our Lady of Guadalupe festivities at the Robeson County Fairgrounds.

The observance, normally Dec. 12, is a tradition in the Catholic faith, said Father Carlos Arce, the priest for the three Hispanic Catholic churches in Robeson County. The congregation opted to have the celebration Sunday, so more people could attend. Since Dec. 12 is a Tuesday, people would likely be working.”
