It’s Christmas, Mexican style – About 1,000 turn out for event at Hancher Auditorium – Iowa City
Tagged: Iowa, Mariachi, tamalesPosted on: December 11th, 2006“It felt like Christmas had come early on Sunday at Hancher Auditorium.
Only instead of ham there were tamales and in place of well-known Christmas jingles such as “Silent Night,” it was an exuberant version of “Fiesta Navidad” performed by the Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano.
The California-based band was the highlight of a festive evening that drew nearly 1,000 people to Hancher. There people revisited their roots or experienced someone else’s tradition.”
