Montebello Housing Development Corporation Offers Housing Training to Hispanic Community-Based Organizations – California
Tagged: California, family, La Raza, latin america, Los Angeles, NCLRPosted on: December 8th, 2006“National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Affiliate Montebello Housing Development Corporation (MHDC) will host a two-day training session for several Latino community-based organizations (CBOs) from around the country. These sessions will showcase the work of MHDC as a model for how other CBOs can help strengthen Hispanic families in their communities through housing programs.
In 2006, MHDC received the National Council of La Raza and Annie E. Casey Foundation Family Strengthening Award for its Affordable Housing Program. The honored program uses an education approach through a combination of services, such as addressing the existing barriers to homeownership. Program staff communicate with clients in meaningful and engaging ways that facilitate the complexity of the homebuying process. In addition, MHDC created a Realtor Partner Program that provides them with a comprehensive education that helps to increase clients’ chances of working with a realtor that is sensitive to their circumstances.
The NCLR Affiliate organizations that will be attending this unique session include:
* CHISPA
* Latin American Coalition
* The Resurrection Project
* Mujeres Latinas en Acción
* Community Council of Idaho
