In reality, though, the RNC’s selection of Martinez as its chief fundraiser and spokesman gives Florida a powerful lobbyist in the Senate. He will be looked on for guidance, and catered to by others looking to build their careers with the GOP. He immediately becomes another Florida representative with a national profile, if he didn’t have one already from his days as head of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.”
