Flowers for Guadalupe – Yearly celebration at St. Mary’s has rich tradition in Catholic church – Corvallis, Oregon
Tagged: Mexico, mexico city, OregonPosted on: December 8th, 2006“In the Basilica in Mexico City hangs a piece of fabric so revered, there are few other textiles in the world that garner such deep adoration. It is so sacred that men and women crawl on their knees for miles in order to show their adoration of the artist whose work adorns the frayed, rough cloth.
The image is so iconic that it has been displayed everywhere from the altars of churches to the hoods of low-rider cars. In it, the cloaked head of the Virgin of Guadalupe bows over hands raised in prayer, her body outlined in a bright aura.”
