Knowledge is Power!
“Court deliberations ended Monday over a complaint filed against the state of Texas by several Hispanic advocacy organizations concerning the alleged failure of the state to properly educate public school students who are not proficient in English.
The motion, brought forward on behalf of the United States by the League of United Latin American Citizens, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the American GI Forum would require the state of Texas to “monitor, enforce and supervise programs for limited-English proficient students.” It is built upon a series of legislative and court decisions dating back to the 1970s that the legal defense fund believes are not being enforced.”
