“Most of Maria Berain’s life has been devoted to taking care of her husband and seven children.

Now, finally, it’s her time, and what makes her happy is helping members of the Idaho Hispanic Seniors organization in Canyon County. There are about 50 members and only a few speak English. They raised families here, working in the fields together. And they’ve become isolated during retirement. She’s committed to getting them together regularly for lunches and Mexican Bingo so they can interact with people their own age and background.”
