This Week’s Spotlight: Rosa Alvarez - Orlando, Florida

“Rosa Alvarez was a stay-at-home mother of three when she began volunteering for the Republican Party several years ago. Her volunteer work eventually led to a staff position with Rep. John Quinones, who goes by the nickname “Q.”

His district includes parts of Orange and Osceola counties. As a precinct committeewoman, Alvarez also is active in the Republican Party in her own right. Alvarez said she never forgets her humble beginnings on a Cuban farm, and she won’t let her boss become a career politician who is disconnected with the “working man.” “He’s always telling me that we can’t save the world, and I’m still trying to save the world,” Alvarez said. She spoke with Sentinel reporter Amy L. Edwards.”
