Ecuador: Uncertain Economic Future

“Ecuador’s president-elect Rafael Correa may have a US economic education, but he will not follow a US recipe for his policies after he assumes office. The 43-year old got his PhD in economics from the University of Illinois in Urbana five years ago, but is now pledging radical economic policies that further weaken Ecuador’s standing among foreign investors. They range from a foreign debt moratorium to bypassing the national assembly.”
