“Actor-comedian Cheech Marin pored over Amor Amatizado (Love Masked Together), for the first time 20 years ago. It was a painting by George Yepes, the East Los Angeles-bred baroque artist whose striking, grandiose oils and acrylics slap the senses with color, light and imagery.

‘It was two [women] kissing and I thought, `Oh, this is pretty cool,’ ” recalls Marin, at the Nov. 15 cocktail reception for the opening of Chicano Visions: American Painters on the Verge, showing at the Museum of Art/Fort Lauderdale through May 1.”
