While some in the community would argue that such options only prevent Spanish-speakers from learning English, some researchers say it could actually help.
“Many Mexican immigrants are eager to learn English,” said Celestino Fernandez, a professor of sociology at the University of Arizona, who specializes in immigration. “If they see the same information on a different sign it could be facilitating. Assimilation takes time, and it doesn’t happen from one day to the next.”"
