“The Northwest Indiana Hispanic Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its first fund-raising event in Lexis Hall, East Chicago.

The group has existed for less than a year, so members remember its beginnings well.

On Feb. 27, a meeting was conducted at the Roberto Clemente Center with Juana Watson, senior adviser of Latino affairs for Gov. Mitch Daniels. The meeting was called to discuss the need for a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Northwest Indiana. From that meeting, a task force was formed.”
