“The newly opened Clinica de la Mama has a slogan that places it in the center of the brewing illegal-immigration debate in Beaufort County: “We worry about your health, not your legal status.”

The for-profit prenatal care clinic opened on Hilton Head Island last week. It aims to provide an alternative for uninsured mothers-to-be, many of whom are undocumented, said Ed Cota, Clinica de la Mama’s owner.”
