“A new study by the Rand Corp., a nonpartisan think tank, says that as recently as six years ago 1 percent of government health care went toward treating illegal immigrants.
The group says the small figure remains valid, even though in recent years the number of undocumented – and all uninsured people – has jumped.
A key to the low spending figure on health care for undocumented people is that they often are younger and healthier than the general population. Also, as a group, the undocumented tend to forgo health care altogether because they lack insurance.”
