Jorge Plasencia Launches RepÚblica, a Full-Service Branding, Advertising and Communications Company

“Seasoned media and marketing executive Jorge Plasencia has announced his departure from to open RepÚblica, a full-service branding, advertising and communications company. He becomes its Chairman and CEO. Plasencia’s partner in RepÚblica is Luis Casamayor, the principal and founder of Miami-based Cosmyk Group, a creative marketing agency. Casamayor will assume the role of RepÚblica’s President and Chief Creative Officer. Cosmyk Group’s stable of clients and its talented employees will now become part of the newly formed entity. RepÚblica will serve clients in South Florida, the U.S. Hispanic market, and .

With over 18 years of media, entertainment and professional sports marketing experience, Plasencia brings his expertise and insight to the agency. At since 2001, Plasencia most currently held the position of Corporate Vice President and Operating Manager of the Network. Previously, Plasencia served as Vice-President of Marketing, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs for the company’s 73 stations in 17 markets in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Casamayor brings more than 15 years of strategic marketing, advertising and design experience to RepÚblica. He founded Cosmyk Group in 1994 as a graphic design studio specializing in corporate identity, logo design, collateral materials, photography and print production. By 2001, the company, based on client demand, evolved into an advertising agency offering additional services such as broadcast advertising, media and web design.

Prior to joining , Plasencia served as Vice President of Estefan Enterprises, Inc., a global entertainment, media and hospitality company owned by superstar and music mogul. , Jr. While at Estefan Enterprises, Plasencia was responsible for corporate development, international marketing, publicity, and corporate strategy for the company’s numerous divisions. He also directed Estefan’s important artist management operation, handling the day-to-day management and business affairs of numerous international artists, including and .

Before his tenure at Estefan Enterprises, Plasencia was the Director of Hispanic Marketing for the Florida Marlins Club. Under his direction the Marlins established an array of successful turn-key sales and marketing programs that achieved impressive results and measurable growth for the team within the Hispanic market. For his efforts, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce awarded Plasencia and the Florida Marlins with the “Hispanic Marketer of the Year Award” in 1997.

Plasencia began his career at age 14 in the industry as a part-time promotions assistant. He subsequently moved up to Promotions Director of WAQI-AM/WRTO-FM and then to Director of Marketing and Special Events for ’s group in Miami.

Plasencia serves on various national boards, including the National Council of (); the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI); and is currently Vice-Chairman of the American National Council. In South Florida, he is Chairman and Co-Founder of Amigos For Kids, and serves on the boards of TotalBank, Barry University, the Foundation, and is a trustee of the United Way. In 2004, Plasencia was nominated by President George W. > Bush, and confirmed by the United States Senate, to serve on the Advisory Board of the Broadcasting Board’s Office of Broadcasting.
