“Rigid laws aimed at restricting the firing of employees in Latin America have contribued to high unemployment and need to be reformed, the International Monetary Fund says.

“Labor market regulations have had adverse effects on performance,” the IMF said in its latest regional economic outlook on Latin America. “These regulations create rigidities that allow vacancies and unemployment to coexist, contributing to high overall unemployment rates.”"
