“As an extension of the Líderes campaign launched in June, Coors Brewing Company announced today it will honor Rosa Navejar, president of the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FWHCC), as the 2006 Coors Hispanic Leader of the Year and the FWHCC as the 2006 Coors Hispanic Non-Profit Sponsor of the Year.

“The Leader of the Year Award allows Coors to elevate the merits the Líderes campaign participants and their sponsor organizations bring to the community,” said Rafael Fantauzzi, Hispanic corporate relations director for Coors. “It’s quite an honor for Coors to recognize Rosa who represents the spirit of engagement, passion, and success that Hispanics contribute to the community.”

Coors will spotlight Navejar’s accomplishments in a print ad in Hispanic Magazine in December 2006 and in a short documentary film debuting in 2007. The FWHCC will receive a $25,000 grant to assist with the development of the Coors Hispanic Leadership Program (CHLP) — a continuing education opportunity for the graduates of its Hispanic Leadership Development Course. This course will be used to train and place Hispanic leaders on civic boards across the greater Fort Worth community. In addition, a FWHCC representative will attend the Hispanic Association of Corporate Responsibility/Harvard Business School Corporate Governance Program.

“I am humbled to receive such an extraordinary honor from Coors,” said Navejar. “The FWHCC’s nomination for the Líderes campaign by Larry Anfin from Coors Distributing Company of Fort Worth was a recognition that left me speechless and overjoyed. Leadership is something that should be shared and mentored; the FWHCC and I look forward to working with Coors on the development of the Coors Hispanic Leadership Program.”

To select the Coors Hispanic Leader of the Year, the company asked its non-profit partners from the 2006 Líderes campaign to submit nominations from among those leaders appearing in Coors’ print ads earlier in the year. The winner was selected based on the leader’s stated award qualifications and the innovativeness of the organization’s idea for the Coors Hispanic Leadership Program.

Nominations were judged by an independent panel of Hispanic market experts, familiar with the need for leadership in the community, including:

* David Chavez and Sarah Chavez, owners of LatinPointe
* Leo Estrada, UCLA professor
* Gabriel Reyes, owner of Reyes Entertainment
* Carlos Alcazar, president of Hispanic Communications Network”
