“According to an LMC Affirmative Action Report released in October, the number of Hispanics at Lake Michigan College spiked at 250 during the 2005-2006 school year, a strong jump from 215 in 2004-2005, 188 the previous year and 167 in 2002-2003.

The latest boost is more than a 16 percent increase over the previous year, a gradual trickle that is gaining more speed than that of any other minority group at the college. Latinos made up 4.18 percent of the population of 5,985 students last year, compared with 2.1 percent of Asian or Pacific Islander students and 1.44 percent of multiethnic students.”
