“Area Latino high school students have several opportunities next week to get a glimpse of college life.

Gainesville High School is planning a college fair, 15 Gainesville High students are attending “Latino Shadow Day” at the University of Georgia in Athens, and Gainesville State College is holding its third annual Latino Youth Conference.

A lot of Hispanic students, for whatever reason, believe they’re not a “candidate for college,” said Linda Youngblood, assistant principal at Gainesville High.”
