“It’s opening night, and Sylvia Perel has the flutters as she watches the crowd arriving at the Castro Theatre for the International Latino Film Festival-San Francisco Bay Area.
“Sometimes, I don’t realize how big it’s going to be until the first day,” says the founder of the event, now in its 10th year with movies at 17 venues in nine Bay Area cities.
Suddenly, it hits her, and “it’s like a dream. I immerse myself in that dream for as long as possible. It’s a magical feeling.’”
