“Hispanic College Fund is participating in the 2006-2007 Booz Allen Hamilton-Redskins Yards for Youth program. Yards for Youth (yardsforyouth.org) is designed to raise funds for nonprofit organizations benefiting the local community.
The Hispanic College Fund would use the monies pledged to support the Greater Washington Hispanic Youth Symposium. “The Youth Symposium is the nation’s only program that combines college counseling, mentorship, career advice, and other supports in a three-day, two-night, on-campus setting, where high school participants live in dorms, eat in dining halls, and experience the college lifestyle. Through this approach, Hispanic youth see the university setting as a place for them, a real option on their journey to a promising, flourishing future,” said George Cushman, Executive Director, Hispanic Youth Symposia. “Approximately 125 area high school students attended the Hispanic Youth Symposium at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. Next year (July 12-14) we are hoping to have the funding to support 200 students through the program.”
