“Sorpresa! – the nation’s first children’s television network broadcast exclusively in Spanish, and CNN en Español, announced today the debut of a co-produced weekend news segment entitled “Qué Pasa?” hosted by CNN en Español anchor Claudia Palacios. Sorpresa! is owned by Firestone Communications, a diversified media and communications company that has recently entered into an agreement to merge with Juniper Partners Acquisition Corporation (JNPPB.OB).
Starting Saturday, November 4, the segment will air every weekend and will be specifically tailored for Hispanic children ages 6 to 12 years old, and broadcast exclusively on the Sorpresa! television network. In addition to relaying news and topical information, the segment features special reports answering questions from the network’s youthful viewers from entertainment and sports related questions to health and technology matters.
“Sorpresa! reaches a growing demographic that needs to be educated on today’s important news topics.” Said host Claudia Palacios. “Having children of my own, I am aware of the need for media outlets to deliver relevant news stories to the Hispanic youth of America.”
“Sorpresa! is the perfect television network for CNN en Español to reach Hispanic children. The goal of the segment is to inform our audience of important news stories, domestic and global, as well as educate our viewers as to the process of making news,” said Leonard L. Firestone, Chairman and C.E.O. for Firestone Communications, Inc., the owner and operator of Sorpresa! “Because of CNNE’s commitment to the Hispanic population, I can think of no better partner.””
