Knowledge is Power!
“New York City’s must attend Hispanic food and beverage trade show, Expo Comida Latina (ECL), celebrates its return to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on November 14 - 15. Along with 500-plus exhibitors from across the globe and thousands of food-maven attendees, the fest will include tastings and cooking demonstrations and insightful must-attend programs. And, for the first time, ECL proudly welcomes Dr. Ana Nogales, one of the most accomplished Latinas in the United States. Celebrated in the media as “the no-nonsense psychologist,” Dr. Nogales will add her expertise on living a healthy and well balanced life to ECL’s vibrant mix of food, beverage and culture.
As the Hispanic food and beverage market has prospered, so have Latina businesswomen. They own more than one-third of Hispanic-owned firms in the U.S and wield a billion-plus dollars worth of economic power. However, building a successful business while maintaining a personal life is a challenge, one that often leaves women burning the proverbial candle at both ends and in the middle, according to Dr. Nogales. Her seminar, ”Empowering Latinas: Balancing Business & Lifestyle,” will explore how Latinas can draw on their innate abilities and cultural traditions to thrive in business while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
As the first psychologist in California to address people’s problems through the media, Dr. Nogales earned acclaim for her highly rated radio and television shows and newspaper columns. For over two and a half decades, the Latina self-empowerer has helped thousands improve the quality of their lives. Dr. Nogales’ seminar draws on her book, “Latina Power!: Using 7 Strengths You Already Have to Create the Success You Deserve,” and espouses a wholistic approach to creating a better life. Dr. Nogales will be joined by Carolina Buia, Laura Diaz (aka Chef LaLa), Isabel Gonzalez and Sandra Gonzalez, who will share their stories and insights as well.
Since its inception, ECL has earned respect as the go-to trade event for Hispanic food and beverage experts searching for the timeliest products, information, and ideas. Increasingly, the community’s search for authenticity comes with a new twist: the desire for healthy ingredients and lighter options. ECL is on it! Along with more exhibitors offering natural foods, whole grains and soy ingredients, ECL will expand its focus on healthful, holistic living in nourishment, mind and body. So, there’s even more reason to rely on ECL for the latest and best.
This year’s Expo Comida Latina has guaranteed another block-buster event by sharing the venue with fellow cultural food leaders All Asia Food and Kosherfest. The numbers don’t lie: one in every seven food dollars in the U.S. is spent on ethnic foods!
