“Community members and civil rights groups gathered to denounce a new city ordinance that would punish landlords for renting to illegal immigrants.
About 150 mostly Hispanic parents and children gathered Sunday to hear local lawyers explain how the law would work, if enforced.
The law is scheduled to take effect Nov. 18. Last Friday, the American Civil Liberties Union and other groups sued the city of Escondido in an effort to overturn the law.”
