“Joy and sadness were the dual reactions in the Diocese of Corpus Christi as Msgr. Daniel Flores, rector of Corpus Christi Cathedral, was named an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Detroit on October 28; but it was joy that ruled in the end.

From his new home in Michigan to his home parish of St. Paul in Flour Bluff, the people affirmed the decision of Pope Benedict XVI that made Father Danny a bishop.

The parish community applauded. They were elated, said Father James Stembler, the present pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Flour Bluff, where the bishop-designate received his first Eucharist, and where his mother Lydia Dilley Flores continues to worship.”
