“Voter registration rates among Hispanics in Alachua County have been increasing over the years, but a series of marches and rallies nationally and in Gainesville that urged Hispanics to be more politically active did not result in a noticeable uptick in registration.

Alachua County elections data shows no increase in Hispanic registration that could be linked to the rallies.

Local Hispanic leaders said political interest is growing and forums have been held, but a concerted voter registration drive has not happened since the May 1 march.”
