Hispanics may swing U.S. House District 16 race - Florida

“Congressional candidates for Florida’s 16th District are trying to balance accountability and compassion with immigration, particularly in an election where the Hispanic vote could make the difference.

In 2005, about 94,500 Hispanics were living in Florida’s District 16, which is made up of eight counties, including parts of Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee.

But only 35,933 of these residents were eligible to vote, according to the Pew Hispanic Center in Washington D.C.”
