“When Andrea Echeverri took a break as vocalist from the Colombian duo Aterciopelados to record her self-titled 2005 solo debut CD, she made a sonic photo album of her motherhood, containing songs on bloating and lacating as well as lullabies to her daughter, Milagros.
On Aterciopelados’ recently released CD, “Oye,” Echeverri and Hector Buitrago’s first new material in five years, Echeverri again sings songs to her daughter, now 4 years old. This time it’s about excessive consumerism (”Don Dinero”) and the sexualization of women (”Oye Mujer”).”
