“Although it’s just in the seedling stage now, a new chamber of commerce is planning for the future, the near future – a future they hope will offer its membership self-help and growth opportunities as well as programs for contributing to the local economy. They believe they can provide growth for the City of Del Rio through support of small, minority and women owned businesses. Their stated near-term objectives are to promote a planned economic community, tourism development and international trade.

Right now, the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is a work in progress, according to President Sergio Diaz. “Our first major step was getting formed, that is done. Our next major step is to get our committees to start working with our subcommittees, and our membership drive,” he said, during an interview with several officers and board members.”
