Gutierrez defends border fence, lauds Hispanics’ economic contributions - Kansas City, Missouri

“U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez spoke to members of Kansas City’s Hispanic business community on Thursday about the country’s resilient economy and growing Hispanic population.

Sound tax policies, economic growth programs and open export markets have made the United States one of the only nations with strong growth in both population and economics, Gutierrez told attendees at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City’s Midwest Business Conference at the Westin Crown Center hotel. He lauded new job growth, a low unemployment rate and an increased gross domestic product as signs of a “vibrant” economy.”
