Dramatic lesson on diabetes – A sketch at an Orlando church aims to educate Hispanics on its risks. – Florida

Tagged: ,

“Sara, a young Latina, finds out she has diabetes, just like her mother. She becomes despondent. Her brother, Miguel, refuses to accept that he, too, is at risk of developing the condition. Another sister, Debbie, worries about prevention.

They struggle to make the lifestyle changes and get the medical treatment that would lead the family to better health.

It’s not exactly the stuff of suspenseful drama, but a theatrical sketch this Sunday will address the struggles of Hispanic families dealing with diabetes, as part of a national project coming to Orlando to raise awareness among Hispanics.”
