Washington Mutual Celebrates the Latin Grammy® Awards with “Caja de la Fortuna” WaMu Partners with Latin Grammy® Nominee Milly Quezada to Support the Latino Community

On Wednesday, November 1, Washington Mutual, presenting sponsor of the Latin Grammy® Awards, partnered with Milly Quezada, Latin Grammy® nominee for Best Merengue Album, to support Alianza Dominicana, Inc. hosted a “WaMu Caja de la Fortuna” event at a local midtown branch in New York, where Milly Quezada was joined by First Vice President Frank Fernandez and Executive Director of Allianza Dominicana, Moises Perez.

Milly Quezada was inside the windy “WaMu Caja de la Fortuna” glass box for 60 seconds attempting to grab as many dollar bills as possible for her selected non-profit organization. $159 was obtained and donated to Alianza Dominicana, Inc. Additionally, Washington Mutual donated $5,000 to the organization.

Washington Mutual’s charitable giving program is a broad, community-based program focused on multiple needs and issues, with specific emphasis on affordable housing and community development and education. Through this collaboration, WaMu will be able to help an organization that for 13 years has been providing services to children, youth and families with multiple needs. Since its founding, Alianza Dominicana, Inc. has emerged as the most comprehensive human service and community development agency in the U.S.
