“Most Latinos don’t vote along political party lines. In fact, party affiliation is the least important factor they consider when casting their ballots, according to a University of Central Florida political scientist’s survey.

The survey was conducted earlier this year with a sample of Latinos in Osceola County who voted during the 2000 and 2004 elections. A team of undergraduate students led by UCF assistant professor Annabelle Conroy interviewed more than 200 residents, including whites, Hispanics and African-Americans. The survey was a pilot project that lays the groundwork for a larger survey and provides a good indication of basic trends among Latino voters, Conroy said.”
