Knowledge is Power!
“National Council of La Raza Affiliate El Centro de la Raza will host a one-day training session for several Latino community-based organizations (CBOs) from around the country. These sessions will showcase the work of El Centro de la Raza as a model for how other CBOs nationwide can help strengthen Hispanic families in their communities.
In 2006, El Centro de la Raza received the National Council of La Raza (NCLR)/Annie E. Casey Foundation Family Strengthening Award for its Homeless Assistance Case Management Program. The honored program teaches families to become self-sufficient over one year’s time.
The Far West Affiliate Network Reception will follow the training and feature Janet Murguí, NCLR President and CEO. At the reception, Murguí will discuss the recently launched “It Starts with You/Empieza Contigo” voter mobilization campaign, a project of the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda, the largest coalition of national Latino organizations in the country. The campaign is a multimedia, nonpartisan civic engagement effort to urge Latinos to vote on November 7.”
