“The Archdiocese of Detroit announced early today that the Vatican has named Msgr. Daniel Flores, 45, of Corpus Christ, Texas, to be an auxiliary bishop serving 1.3 million Catholics in southeast Michigan. He is believed to be the first Hispanic bishop in a mainline Christian denomination in Michigan.
Flores was flying to Detroit to meet with Catholic leaders on Saturday. He will be formally installed on Nov. 29 at Detroit’s Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.”
