“Fielding frantic 9-1-1 calls is challenging enough, but when the caller speaks a foreign language, help may be delayed.

Calls in Spanish are now the most common foreign-language 9-1-1 calls to the Willamette Valley Communications Center, which dispatches for 18 police and fire agencies in Marion and Polk counties. The center has one dispatcher who is a certified Spanish speaker, supervisor Susan Hurley said.”
