“Good news for Latinas of the Permian Basin (and 50 other cities): if you want to connect with other women of the same background, you can join Las Comadres.

The group was started by Veronica Rivera and Elizabeth Garcia, both attorneys. Nora Comstock is credited with spearheading the informal e-mail network. Rivera and Garcia started the group as a way for Latinas to connect and make friends. The group has blossomed beyond Comstock’s wildest dreams (she is now the president and Chief Executive Officer)–there are face-to-face meetings every month as well as the e-mail network.”
