“Anyone playing “who’s who” at the 17th annual Hispanic Charity Ball probably came up with one question more than any other: Where were Alcario and Carmen Castellano?

The $141 million lotto winners and founders of the Castellano Family Foundation rarely miss an event that supports Silicon Valley’s Latino community, but they were nowhere to be found Saturday among more than 800 people who gathered for the black-tie affair at San Jose’s Fairmont Hotel.

The mystery was quickly explained: The Castellanos were supposed to be back from a European vacation Friday but were stuck in Rome a few extra days because they lost their passports. The foundation was instead represented by their son, Armando Castellano.”
