Museum examines Latino holiday in honor of the dead – Oakland, California

“The Day of the Dead was alive and well at the Oakland Museum of California, where several thousand partygoers in skeleton shirts and other grim gear gathered Sunday to celebrate Dia de los Muertos.

“I wish our museum looked like this every day,” said spokeswoman Elizabeth Whipple, referring to the crowd’s multicultural makeup as well as its size. “We’ve celebrated Dia de los Muertos 13 years now, and this is always our biggest day.”"
