Teacher seeks input for S.J. Latino history - California

“Sandi Castanon-Ramirez recalls the exact moment she realized the book she was using to teach literature at Franklin High School contained only one Latino work, a short story by Sandra Cisneros.

“I looked through it and asked, ‘Where are the Latinos?’” Castanon-Ramirez said. “(The Latino students) couldn’t read or see Hispanic role models in their literature book.”"
