Historically black colleges recruit growing Hispanic population

“Hispanics, who now outnumber blacks in the U.S., are being recruited by historically black universities and colleges where officials say the shift could deplete their student enrollments.

“Ten years out, we’re going to have to address that population,” said Ulisa Bowles, director of admissions at Bennett College in Greensboro. “We’re not going to have enough students if we only have one population. Naturally, the next population that we’re really interested in is the Hispanic community.” “
