Two weeks ago I was in Chicago for a day and had to go to my favorite taco place “La Pasadita” to eat 5 (or was it 6) tacos de carne asada. Yummy. While there I saw this article posted on their board, so I finally got around to posting it.

“or Chicagoans whose first taco memories evoke crackly yellow shells full of mealy ground beef from the local Jack in the Box, our city’s taco scene has come a long way.

Thanks to decades of steady Mexican immigration and our appetite for tacos, the Chicago area has become a fertile garden of authentic taquerias. You’ll rarely find those hard yellow numbers in these places–instead they serve hot, soft, fragrant snacks that land on your tongue tasting much as they would in the heart of Mexico. Our taqueria density has, in fact, grown so that in some neighborhoods it’s hard to toss a tortilla without hitting one or two good taco purveyors.”
